Elefair King is a passionate storyteller, historian at heart, and advocate for the underrepresented. Born in Austin, Texas, and raised primarily in Houston, she has lived in Montgomery County for the past 30 years. Though she never considered herself a writer, she has always been a natural educator and organizer, committed to bringing awareness and change to the communities she serves.
Her debut novel, The Victorian Locket – A Galveston Historical Mystery, was born out of her deep fascination with Galveston’s rich and often overlooked history. Wanting to create an engaging way for readers from all walks of life—not just history buffs—to explore the island’s past, she blended historical fiction with mystery, ghostly encounters, and a beloved feline companion.
When her husband of 40 years was diagnosed with Fronto-Temporal Dementia (FTD) in 2013, and later moved to memory care after a serious injury, Elefair turned to research and writing as a way to stay engaged and emotionally resilient. Her meticulous attention to detail and near-photographic memory, which had served her so well in her career, now fueled her storytelling. She immersed herself in Galveston’s history, determined to bring its remarkable stories to life.
